On behalf of the Markham Wesley Centre (MWC) and Markham Peoples Community Church (MPCC), we are writing to announce that our 9th Annual Carnival and Blessing Walk will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019. This fundraising event aims to raise much needed funds, and in particular funds for operating and developing new programs for all members of our communities.
We are located at 22 Esna Park Drive in Markham and is 46,000 square feet in size. The MWC was established to serve the residents of the culturally diverse communities of Markham and Richmond Hill in the York Region. Our core mission is to promote cultural harmony and enhance the overall well-being of the surrounding communities and to assist new immigrants in adapting to new lives in Canada. We hope that by providing these communities with various social, recreational and physical activities we will help to promote the physical and mental health of each individual living within them.

Since its opening in December 2014, the MWC has grown to more than 2,000  registered members, with an average of 300 members participating in different activities at the Centre each day. These include ESL for new immigrants, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, pickle ball, basketball, etc.  We also have our own community choir, cooking classes, photography, fitness, computer and various other activities for all ages.

The theme of our fundraising event this year is "Embracing Community Harmony"- to celebrate friendship among all ethnic groups.  For the July 27 event, we will have an international food fair, various games and sport tournaments, and many multi-ethnic performances.
The building housing the MWC also houses the MPCC, which is recently expanded and is serving the church and also community users with modern entertainment elements, including a large and sophisticated electronic screen system, excellent acoustics and more than 700 theatre-grade seats.  This facility will also contribute to the MWC’s ability to serve its mission.

Your donation will make a big difference and will be very important in the development of the community, senior and children and youth activities. With your support and participation, we are sure we will be able to improve both the quality and quantity of these services.
